Error: CREATING ASInstance failed
Cause: This is because of an invalid host file.
Guys please note that a static ip is needed for the OBIEE instance creation and thus installation.
Resolution:
The usual entries in the host file is as below”
121. 0. 0.1 localhost (default)
Change this to
The actual physical IP of the machine (set using the lookback adapter)
192.168.31.xxx sandeep-pc
It can be of the any no routable IP given below:
10.10.10.10
or
192.168.1.XXX (0-255)
DO NOT END the installation if this fails in this step . But make sure the host files are as below and validate them
- ping sandeep-pc (it should return the IP entered in the host file).
- Please check ur TNSNAMES.ORA and LISTNER.ORA files and replace ‘localhost’ with the host name (sandeep-pc).
- Go to the LSNECTL.EXE from the ORACLE_HOME dir and run LSNRCTL.EXE as administrator (in win 7).execute the following:>LSNRCTL stop>LSNRCTL reload>LSNRCTL startOpen a new command prompt and execute the following:c:\ tnsping orclalso verify the following:nslookup sandeep-pcnslookup 192.168.1.xxxGo back to the installation and click RETRY. the installation should go through.If it do not go through then quit the installation and clear the registries and do an new install in a new FMW home

Hi Sandeep,
I have installed BI Publusher11g(11.1.1.15) without any issues, but I when I try to save a data set , it hangs there never saves, I have appiled January patch and tried I have same issue and I tried April patch I still have same issue, can you please help me to solve this issue. My OS is windows 7 Home 64 bit

Hi All,
First I tried installing OBIEE on windows 8 with firewall setting off. While installing RCU the Checking Operating System step failed but i proceeded ignoring that and the configuration got hanged in step 14.
Later I tried doing the same in Windows 7 and no issues were found while creating repository but during installation after completing 25% got OUI session fail error.
Please let me know if anybody got solution for this.
