How to Add Multimedia Dashboard In OBIEE 11G

Hi Guys,

Here are the steps to setup a Multimedia Dashboard page in OBIEE 11G/10G .

Ok now lets get started.

The following steps were performed in Windows OBIEE Server OBIEE 11g Env



Step 1: Turn On the windows IIS option from control pannel

Step 2: Restart the Machine and Navigate to C:\drive and select all hidden folders.


Locate a folder called wwwroot inside

C:\initpub\wwwroot and Create a folder inside this location

so it will look like this


C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Sandy




Step 3: To make sure that your IIS installation is complte, do the following


Open a web browser and in the address bar type in as below

localhost  and hit enter

You should be seeing a image like this.

If this is not displaying please make sure that your IIS installation is proper.

Make sure that in the path

C:\initpub\wwwroot there is an image file called welcome.png

If not your IIS installation is not compelte

(I am not mentioning the IIS debug steps here)





Step 4: Goto the command prompt and Restart the IIS service

C:\>iisreset /noforce SandeepV-PC


Find the command int the screenshot below

Step 5: Copy the Media Files 

Navigate to the below directory in your machine and copy the required Video/Audio files here.

C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Sandy

The video can be access now in you browser with the below url.

Verify the Video /Audio files by accessing them by the following url.

http://localhost/Sandy/Wildlife.wmv

http://localhost/Sandy/Kalimba.mp3

With this the IIS configuration and the Availability of the Video/Audio files is complete.

Now the next steps is to make this available in the Dashboard.
